The Tree Isn’t The Only Thing Getting Lit This Year Shirt
Christmas in Bob’s Early Days! I was thinking back to a simpler time when I was a youngster growing up in Council Bluffs Iowa and The Tree Isn’t The Only Thing Getting Lit This Year Shirt. I was born in 1950 to a family of five, a Mother, Father, three brothers and a sister. We also had a little red Pekinese dog named Beebee and a gray female cat named Deucey D.H. Whosey. I know, but it isn’t my fault, my sister Diane named them all. I am happier than marijuana smoker who found an open truckload of Twinkies that she wasn’t in on choosing my name.

Had I been born a girl, Mom had the name Sally Sue Sellers picked out for me. Although girls didn’t usually beat each other up on a regular basis back then, that name would have gotten me killed and The Tree Isn’t The Only Thing Getting Lit This Year Shirt. Christmas was always a happy time for kids in the 1950s. About the beginning of November of each year, the new Sears and JC Penny Christmas Catalogs were released to the waiting public of American kids. When our catalogs arrived in the mail, I was as excited as a teenage girl who was ready to break some poor boy’s heart for the first time. Of course, it never happened to me. But I had less fortunate friends…..so let’s just move on, Okay.

Upon opening the catalog, I skipped past the clothes, house wares, shoes and infant section, heading right for the toys. Of the many toys and gifts for kids, there were some I wanted more than others and The Tree Isn’t The Only Thing Getting Lit This Year Shirt. Like every other boy in America, Superman was my hero and I wanted to be just like him. I was pretty sure if Superman had the opportunity to meet me, he would take me under his cape to teach me the tricks on how to see through things and fly. Of course, the first step was to score one of those great outfits and they had them in the Sears and JC Penny catalogs.
